Hi I'm having a serious problem with my ipod. When it is charging on the wall charger and I start the iPod, the Apple icon goes on, then leading to a screen with a sadface ipod and telling me to go to apple.com/ipod/support... When the iPod is on my USB port I get a static battery icon, even though it's been charged for a while.... anyone know what I should do?

I don't know what is causing this, I generally only know about things that have gone wrong with my own ipod, but you didn't say ... did you go to apple.com/ipod/support... ???

I've had this problem many times and tried every solution in the book. Some worked some haven't. The best and quickest solution I've found through frustration (funny how that works) is to reset the ipod (hold menu and select at the same time for 10 seconds) and MOST IMPORTANTLY shake the ipod in a hard rapid flick of the wrist. Do this for a few seconds when the ipod is rebooting. This motion seems to free the frozen spinning disk and you're back in action! GOOD LUCK!

This exact thing happened to me tonight...tried everything on the support site, called tech support...got nowhere with anything. Decided it could not hurt to do a search on this site for my problem...wouldn't you know, I dig up this thread. Reset my iPod, shook it while it was resetting and BANG, the hard drive started to spin again. This thread should have a sticky attached to it.

Thanks Jack

i have fixed my ipod multiple times doing this, ive also dropped it down my steps at my house i was ####ed cuz warranty ended a week ago, but that even fixed it, lol

on tech support apple should have first remedy to try "reset ipod and shake vigorously" itd be great, and a joke to the technical world
