...really, how hard could it be?
I was just examining the pin connector for the remote on my iPod, and I realized it looks rediculously simple. If we've got companies like Belkin making CF readers and voice recording attachments for the iPod, how hard could it be to reverse-engineer the remote connection and build a low-power wireless remote? Just a short range one, that would work from my hand to my pocket...having the remote inline with the headphones seems to make sense in theory, but it doesn't work very well for me in practice. There could be a small attachment to the top of the iPod that fits into the remote slot, and it then receives signals from a small battery-powered remote. And since the attachment wouldn't be transmitting anything, only receiving, it wouldn't take a lot of battery power.
I wonder if any company has thought of doing something like this. And if they have, why didn't they build it? Anyway, it was just a thought. What do you people think?
