i didnt buy them because of the cord problem. instead i got jvc hafx55s which i love but if you love the sonys then this might help. i know how to buy them and then only spend $6 every time you have to replace them. on amazon you can buy a 2 year warranty for $6 or so. what happens is that if the cord messes up you send it in and they send a refund for headphones. then you buy them again with warranty and keep this up. it might get sort of annoying and thats why i didnt do it but if you love the sound this might help.
