I just got my Shure E2's today, am very happy with the style and fit. However, I can't seem to bump up the bass to a comfortable level. They sound very tinny.

I have changed the EQ setting on my 40gb ipod to 'Bass Booster' with no noticable difference. My Sony's were much bassier. Any advice?

Sounds like you are not getting a good seal with the earpiece. Try using the foam sleeves and roll them between your fingers to compress them and then pull your ear with one hand while inserting the earpiece with the other hand to get a good seal in your ear canal. The foam sleeve will expand to fill your ear canal and give you a good seal in less than half a minute. There are detailed directions on Shure's web site and these documented steps also were in my e2c package too.

I found it harder to get a good seal with the flex sleeves and initially did not try the foamies myself and had the same problem - lack of bass. But this was entirely due to a bad seal.

You'll know when you get a good seal and the bass will definitely be there. Forget bass boost on iPod - it just adds distortion and you won't need it with a good seal.

Keep trying - it takes a little practice to get the seal but once you get it, it will be easier each time to use them.

Yep, agree with sandman--It's like riding a bike; all the sudden you get the seal, and it's like, "AHA!!"..Once you figure it out for the first time, it's a piece of cake after that.
