I was curious if anyone could tell me whether or not the cheap av cables off ebay worked? Also does anyone have a third party wall charger that didnt burn up their ipod.

A lot of people have success with 3rd party chargers, but the big problem is durability. And if a charger is cheaply made and begins to fall apart, the results could be a fried iPod. I wouldn't worry about the major third-party brands like Griffen and Belkin, just the real cheap no-name stuff.
(tho, as others have said, discard any batteries that come w/ Belkin's backup battery packs as the batteries are made by a smaller company and tend to be faulty.)

I read the reviews on this site and bought a Sonnet wall charger. I found it for $16 shipped and it includes a USB cable. Apple wants you to pay $39 for those items combined. The Sonnet seems fine.
