I purchased the new 30GB iPod and low and behold with in a few weeks I had the dredded scratches.....

I tried my best to keep it from getting them but simply placing it on my desk casued scratches on the metal backing and some how I sumdged/scratched the front plastic window.

And before anyone gets their shorts in a bind I know that's just a scratch and they will happen now and in the future, but I ordered a bottle of iCleaner ( http://ipodcleaner.com/ ) anway.

found me a small terry cloth towel and applied a small amount if the scratch remover as directed. I started on the metal backing....I rubbed and rubbed...applied 1..2..3..6...7...10+ applications for about 1 hour, no difference. I tried rubbing hard for a while then when my fingers cramped I went with soft motion, no difference. I got fed up and decided to work on the front window. this is where this cleaner does a good job. it took about 3 or 4 applications, sometimes rubbing hard and others not, about 30 min time my screen was renewed...no hazing or swril marks, nice.

I went back to applying the elbow greese to the metal back another hour there...no difference, although it did clear off my finger prints (WHO CARES!?)

so I will keep trying, but I have to say if you are going to get iCleaner it better be just for the front plastic part of the iPod. I may try some Brasso for the back....does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

the icleaner makes a point of saying that it works on the plastic part more so then the back. that's what they sell the metal polish for.

brasso will give you the same results.

So, the iCleaner, does it leave the screen looking like new? Does it leave it feeling the same as originally?

I might have to get me some when I go to the States in the Summer.

Yes, It left the display crystal clear like new. I do have a very small scratch that was a little deeper than the others but I feel confident that with a few more applications it will be gone too.

I was amazed at how well it worked on the front, given it does take some time and rubbing it pays off. The nice thing it doesnt take too much of the iCleaner compound per application.

The cleaner wasnt too pungent either, reminded me a little of the smell of rubbing compound used on cars.

I just got done "upgrading" my order from iCleaner to the Pro which has Metal Polish and towel...I cant wait to give that a try
