After i updated to 1.3 and downloaded itunes4 when i plugged in my pod it would no longer show up the source list in itunes. itunes doesn't recognize my pod is connected at all... I tried resetting it, i tried unplugging and replugging it in, restarting, etc. still no luck. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas how to solve it?

my pod shows up to osx... it shows up on my desktop... just not in ituness

Since i reset my pod i have no music on it, and since it's not showing up i have no way of putting music on it. So i have a large shiny piece of junk on my hands :). kind of dissapointing really.

####, same thing just happened to me, although I havn't reset it yet.

Did you mean 'reset' by pushing the Menu and Play buttons simultaneously or 'restore' by using the iPod software Updater application?

Apple iPod support says reset then restore and it should work. Did you do both?

I have a 20MB iPod.

i tried both restore and reset. I'm out of town for mothers day this morning but heading back home in a few minutes, I'm going to mess around more with my pod when i get back. If I solve the problem or figure anything out I'll post here.... hopefully you'll do the same and somehow we'll fix this.

It's totally bizarre because the mac recognizes the ipod, it shows up on the desktop, but it doesn't launch isync like it normally does when i connect my pod or itunes. HMMM

Here's hoping for a miracle *chink*

I had the same problem, here's what worked for me:

Eject your iPod from the desktop, then unplug the firewire cable from your computer. Shut down, then unplug your computer for about 10 minutes. Restart. You've just reset your firewire. Plug and play.

I don't know why this works but it does.

I'll have to try that tomorrow... at the moment I'm at the library at school, putting off finishing a research paper that is due in 7 hours. I hope that'll work... I tried multiple combinations of reset/restore earlier with no luck at all.... I would have loved to have my ipod here with me tonight while i'm working.... Instead of listening to my music i'm stuck listening to people turn pages in books, type and cough every 30 seconds.

well i'm not sure why either dwayne but your suggestion did fix things...

After i got home from the library this morning i unplugged my firewire connections. shut down and then unplugged the mac power cord and went to take a little nap. When I woke up I plugged the mac back in and turned it on. After it booted up into osx I plugged in my ipod and after a few tense seconds itunes launched :). iSync didn't, but that's easy enough to fix.

Thank you for the tip.

Oh, for iSync I had to use "Remove Device" to get rid of my iPod, then "Add Device" to bring it back. Again, I don't know why but it worked.

Wow, I thought I had bitten the dust but Dwayne McDuffie saved me. I want to thank you from the botom of my heart. I've had this ipod for two years and like it better than my daughter's new 15 gig slek and trimline model. How did you come across this solution?

I owe you one . . .

so i got all the latest upgrades, both ipod, itunes etc. still itunes doesn't see my ipod.

so i shut down my machine, reset, restored, all of that and an ipod icon still does not appear in itunes. (although itunes launches when i connect the ipod)

any more help out there, anyone?
