Computer Not Reconizing Ipod. Plz Help

Hi,

I have been trying to get this for weeks. I am sick of it. My ipod will not be reconized by my computer. Not even in windows explorer.

When i plug it in it says: "Usb Device Not Reconized".

People have said on other forums to "Format" my ipod. I cant format my ipod because the computer will not reconize it. If there is a way to format the ipod without needing to be reconised by windows Im all ears.


Will someone please help. I just want to give up.


P.s. i dont have the original disk that came with the ipod. do i need it.

you do not need the disk which came with the ipod BUT you need iPod Updater and iTunes

-install the latest version of iPod Updater (it contains iPod drivers to make the PC recognize the iPod)
-run the iPod Updater and choose 'Restore' it will wipe the iPod disk removing all data.

i had the same problem. it turned out my usb ports had malfunctioned. i know it seems simple, but it might be your problem

chances are that your usb ports may be faulty or not putting out enough power - have you tried the others? did it ever work properly before this?
