Hello everyone,

I have a question that recently occurred to me. As we all know, Apple has discontinued several iPod models, such as the iPod photo and iPod mini. Yet, if your iPod battery runs out, then Apple's "replacement" policy is that you send it in to them and they just send you a brand new iPod instead of replacing the actual battery.

So.. do they still send you a brand new iPod if you have a discontinued model? I have a 60 GB iPod photo... how can they replace it and give me a new one when the battery runs out if that model been discontinued? Do they just have some huge stockpile of them solely for battery replacement purposes? Has anyone here sent their discontinued iPod model to Apple for battery replacement? What did you get back?

Thanks to anyone who can answer my question.

I always thought that they replaced the battery rather than give you a new one.

I'm sure they'd give you a 60GB Video iPod instead of a 60Gb Photo.

Or a refurbished one.

BTW I like your signature. Is that your cat?

well you can go a Fry's Electronics store and buy a replacement battery there. they recently got hold of home battery replacement kits for every generation of ipod battery ands its only like 30 bucks or so

I had a serious problem w/my mini back in October and within the space of three days or so, they sent me back a completely refurbished one.

My guess is, they'll send you back a completely refurbished unit.

Yeah, I guess getting a refurb makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

And nah, that's not my cat; just a cute pic I found online. :)
