i'm pretty sure this is the appropriate forum for this topic...

well my iPod has always worked great. it's a 30 gb photo that i got in may 2005. but today it really messed up.

first, it would not turn on. no buttons would respond. when i put it on hold, it turned on, but the buttons wouldnt work(obviously because it was on hold). but if i turned the hold switch off the iPod would just shut down completely.

later on today it would turn on only when i used the hold switch, and when i took it off of hold it was stay on but the buttons and click wheel were frozen completely.

i've tried resetting it several times(doesnt respond due to the broken buttons). i've also tried restoring it using apple ipod software, which worked in the sense that my ipod updated and restored itself, but the buttons and click wheel are still frozen.

help! is there anything i can do? would my 1 year limited warranty cover this or should i get the apple protection plan?

Your ony year protection plan should cover it. Just go to http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/ and fill out the form accordingly.

i just thought you would like to know that i went to the genius bar at my apple store and they replaced my iPod no problem! they didnt even need to see my proof of purchase, warranty or anything. it was really handy and the workers were really nice.
yay! my iPod is fixed! hehe:)
