View Full Version : Ipod won't mount with firewire but will with USB
I plugged my Ipod (Gen4) into a G4 Tower with firewire.
The Ipod would not mount on this machine.
Now when I plug it into my G5 Tower it won't mount, but just charges.
When using USB it mounts fine.
Any ideas how I can fix this?
It must be a softwear problem I'm thinking.
Cheers for any help.

Try reinstalling your iPod software, or updating your iPod with the newest iPod updater - and if all else fails just use USB...

the ipod video does not support firewire, only USB.
It's not a video.
Will try the reinstall. Can't bear to just use USB. S l o w pain.

Sorry guys, didn't realise.
The situation has just got worse, should I carry on here or move to the other section?

A moderator will move the thread for you if necessary.
Do other Firewire devices connected to your Mac work? Have you run Software Update so you're running 10.4.4?
Thats cool. I have started another thread.
Thanks for the help to those that helped, and to unhelpful people posting topics about newbies blah blah blah, maybe try lightening up.

Please don't cross post in the forums. I deleted your other post - Forum Policy. (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7588)
Sorry.
Wouldn't it have made more sense there though?
Stemmed from my mistake. I apologise.
The updater now gives a message that there was an error updating the ipod.
Oh poo.
Anyone?
