Random songs disappearing

For the most part I love my 60Gb Photo iPod, but it's been doing something strange for a while now. Every now and then one or two songs just disappear. Not a whole album, and not all at once. Maybe one per week. If I wasn't keeping such a close watch on it I wouldn't have even noticed, but when a song I'm playing one day is not there the next it really bugs me. Has anyone else noticed this? What could it be and is there any way to prevent it?

wow, thats wierd. maybe the harddrive is slowly decomposing on you. are the songs that dissapear from your ipod still on itunes? maybe you have too much music (i know, its an oxymoron) do you have more than 60 gigs of music?

yeah it is wierd. The songs that disappeared are still in the library, just not on the pod. I've only got 40GB worth on the ipod itself and have cleaned out iTunes, so it's got barely anything in it now. It's been doing this since I got it really, so I hope the hard drive isn't decomposing or something. I hope it doesn't get worse!

well if its still under warranty I get in touch with apple sounds serious!

i've had the same problem; upgrade the iPod firmware to the latest version and grab the latest iTunes. dunno if it helps you but it did solve my problem :)
