Ipod Photo Alarm clock does not work

The alarm clock is set on, the time is ok, the music is ok. But it will not start, not even manually.
The sleep timer works...

Such irony...I'm having the same problem almost exactly two years later!

I have a 60GB iPod Photo that I got sometime in winter 2004/2005. The alarm feature isn't working right. It turns on the iPod, but doesn't play my selected playlist. It doesn't actually do anything besides just turn on. If it's already on, it does nothing at all. I've reset it several times (e.g. select+menu to restart).

Has anyone seen this happen? I was thinking mine has the latest firmware update...
