I have been cycling through various types of cases for my 4th gen 40 gig monochrome iPod, trying to find one that would actually do what I want it to. Every case I've ever had always has some flaw that made it fall short.

So, here is a list of features I am looking for in a case, let me know if ther eis something out there that meet my need.

The case needs to be....

a) open faced ( by this I mean the display of the ipod is never covered by anything that prevents you from seeing the screen or controlling the iPod. (similar to the DLO Podfolio)

b) have a hard, non-flexible lens that covers the screen. (similar to the iSkin eVo2)

c) have soem sort of strap or sealed top that prevents the iPod from sliding up and out of the case. (similar to iSkin eVo2)

d) be made of leather, nylon, or some material that doesn't attract dust like a silicon case would.

e) have a fixed belt clip that doesn't swivel or seperate from the case. (similar to DLO Podfolio)

It doesn't seem to me that it would be too difficult to make soemthign that fit this bill. Basically I'm looking for a case like the Podfolio that has a hard lens and an enclosed top. The Podfolio I had before had a soft lens that BADLY marred the screen of my iPod and it lost its tention and would let the iPod slide around.

Let me know if there is anything out there that fits the bill, because I haven't found it yet.

i found that most screen covers for ipod cases are terrible. what i did to solve the problem is i went out and bought a pack of screen protectors for a PSP (but you can get them for nintendo ds, pdas, or just ipod screen protectors). I then cut it out to fit my screen (several millimeters bigger, it doesn't matter if it's not cut at exactly 90 degrees or its off center a little since the area around the screen will be covered anyway). then i took a straight edge razor and cut out the screen on my ipod case. that way i have the case that i like minus the poorly made screen cover. it looks like there's no cover over my ipod's screen at all but it still protects it better than a soft one.

hope this helps.

I actually did the exact same thing with mine after the DLO case marred the face of it. The film also made it look much better because it lessened the appearance of the marring. However there are still considerable problems with that DLO case and I am needing a case that fits the description above.
