Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I have recently bought a Kenwood KDC-MP728 HU and the iP500 iPod interface to go with my 5th Gen iPod video.
My problem is that when I try "Selecting Browsing (Music Menu) Item" (direct quote from the iP500 manual) using the [SCAN] button on the HU, it doesn't do anything. It looks as though the [SCAN] option is greyed out on the HU's display, hence I cannot select anything other than Playlists as the browsing item.
Im not sure whether the problem is caused by my HU (not having support for this feature) or by my iPod being a 5th gen and that there is no mention of the iP500 officially supporting it.
If anyone has any suggestions for me, or even if you have the same issues, maybe we can come together on this. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. :)
*UPDATE* It appears I am incapable of understanding these manuals. The problem was on the iP500 interface box itself, there are 2 dip switches labeled 1 and 2. 1 is used to set the Browsing item selection to enabled (down) or disabled (up). Mine was set to disabled and was therefore locked onto Playlists only. Flipped it to enabled and voila! :o
