Hi -

After getting excited about the prospects of installing my new IPod in my car I rushed out and bought a Dension Ice Link Plus - dock for my Car to fit to my Blaupunkt Woodstock Dab 52 Head unit...Silly me!!! I installed it and was that unsatisfied with the unit I returned it...

Now to save the hassle I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Official Blaupunkt cable.

Questions I have

1.Does it interface well - IE What functions can you perform
2.Is the ID3 Tag information displayed on the headunit
3.Does the Headunit detect the ipod everytime
4.Is there anything you are not happy with

Hope someone can help,

1. only recognizes Playlists (up to around 50)
2. ID3-Tag-recognition works on the newer modells (since seattle mp74, bronx mp74 etc.) But I'm not sure about your modell.
3. normally should detect the iPod
4. can't do much (see 1 ) and only the more expensive modells can display ID3-Tags! For 115 € I would expect more.

Hope I could help!
Julio

Thanks for that, You have near enough outlined all reasons not to buy one of these.

May I ask what you use if anything other than this interface

I use Alpine. I know about the Blaupunkt because I have it at work in my department (Car-Hifi)

As you where probably expecting an answer for Blaupunkt...
Hm... Try the Harman Kardon Drive+Play perhaps!
You can choose everything just like on the ipod... if you don't mind the extra control unit and display it sounds like the best solution!

Or just buy a AUX-cable.... it just costs around 15 (whatever, Dollars, Euros) but you have to control everything on the iPod itself.

I want to get a DAB head unit (I'm in the UK) and I also want to connect my iPod to the headunit, so it looks like a Blaupunkt DAB35 or DAB54 is my only choice.

Therefore I'm looking for a bit more detail on the Blaupunkt iPod interface. The web site doesn't have much info. Is it really awful?

The web site says that the new software enables you to display ID3 tags on the head-unit display. Can you choose and scroll through album and artist information on the head-unit or can you only use Playlists? Can you skip tracks? Can you still control the iPod directly?

I want to use an adaptor to keep using the Stalk controller on my Ford Focus - I don't know if that will work or how it will complicate things.

Any advice appreciated.
