I have my ipod hooked up through the AUX input on my Pioneer head unit. I have 2 12" subs and a 1000 watt Soundstream amp. When I'm using the ipod in the car, the bass is non-existant. I have the bass set at +2 usually and went all the way up to +6 and it made little difference. I have the ipod volume at about 95% and the head volume at 30-40 and it sounds great, but there's no bass. Any suggestions? I feel as though my amp and subs are going to waste because my ipod is all i listen to. Just FYI, while listening to a CD with the bass set at +2 and the volume at 35, the bass can be heard from a block or two away. Thanks for the help.

That's just the way it is when you use the iPod for car use...it obviously wasn't designed with the car in mind..
I have an aftermarket deck that goes up to 40...
there are some songs that I actually have the volume turned up that far so I can hear everything..especially when I'm going 80mph on the highway...(road noise in my car is bad)..and things are still kinda tinny sounding
plus a lot of my songs are ripped from older cd's that sucked and were quiet compared to today's cd mixes..
the iPod is never gonna sound as good as a cd in a car
it does seem weird that you are having those issues when you have a subwoofer, though

ummm i dont even have a sub and the bass hits well - its either something bad with your sub or with your ipod. check your EQ settings maybe?

Did you say you have the Ipod volume set at 95% of max?
If that is the case, you must be using RCA to minijack and plugging into the headphone jack of iPod?
no good...
you should use an interface that plugs directly into the dock of the iPod..
that could be your problem...
When you use the dock plug-in, moving the volume up and down from the iPod won't do anything..it is a direct connection that uses your stereo's volume only..

Thanks for the input guys.... yeah I have it hooked up through the headphone jack of the ipod. It connects into the back of the head unit where I had my CD changer hooked up. I heard bad things about the interface so I went this way. The rep in the store told me that the sound would be almost identical to that of the interface, but $100 cheaper. Guess he was wrong.

I just use a universal iPod adaptor from Blitzsafe ($60)...it connects via RCA inputs on the back of my head unit and goes directly to the dock connector....There are a few wires to connect as well, but this also charges the Ipod at the same time
I have heard my iPod through the headphone jack in my car and it is way too quiet..
This should correct your problem
