Ok the reason why i ask about this here is cos my PC speakers have just decided to stop working, which has ####ed me off no end (stupid ?40 Philips speakers).

Anway these speakers, the "JBL Creature Loudspeaker System" are advertised on the apple website as an accessory for the iPod and i was looking to get them for that, but now i'm gonna have to get them for my PC.

I don't suppose anyone has a pair of them and could tell me what there like.

If you don't know what speakers i mean here is the link to their pic:

Any help you can offer would be great, the main reason why i want to know is because they offer a hefty price tag of ?95, but i can possibly get them off of the apple discount store.

I think there are better sounding speakers for the same price...

An example would have been helpful. Do you have any PC speakers that can be used with the iPod that deliver good clarity of sound and can blow the roof tiles off if necessary?

Yeah i saw those on the apple site, but i haven't seen to many of these in any of the UK shops. Thanks for helping though, i read some good stuff about those speakers so they shouldn't dissapoint.

They're good. I found a set on Amazon pretty cheap ($80ish) back in July, and I've found them to be quite capable, and they look pretty darn cool, too. Very full-sounding, especially for such tiny satellites. The capacitance-driven volume buttons are nice, too...although it's tricky to tell if you actually muted it.

Shop around, and you could find them as low as in the $70-80 range.

OK, why not go along to your local PC World, taking your iPod, and ask to demo the fairly wide range of computer speaker systems, including the JBL Creatures. Unless you go for something with a subwoofer you should find something within your budget. But as you want to "blow the rooftiles off" I think you may need a SW!

I could have quoted a list of speakers but all it would have done was attract contradicting posts about how the Yamative Super Surround 10.1 system is far better than the Rinky Dink 500's.
Look what happens when someone mentions Sony EX71 - no, please don't start!

Speakers in this kind of range can either sound great or sound awful. They are, after all, only really meant for reproducing sound alerts and effects on a computer and are not Hi-Fi High-End speakers. So I'd say Try Before You Buy - then at least you can be the final judge...

What i really wanted to know is whether the Creative 2.1 speakers are good, as i had a ?40 pair of Philips 4.1.

Obviously 2.1 is a a downgrade in one sense, but i wanted to know whether they are much better than my previous pair: Philips A2. 500

Thats a link.

I just assumed since i would be paying the extra money for a creative 2.1 system that they must be better, or am i falling into the "expensive must be better trap"?

Once I moved my CD collection onto my pod, I got rid of my 5-disc CD changer and bookshelf stereo system, and got the Creature speaker setup.

They sound great to me! I have them in my home office. Obviously they are not top end, but they are good enough for me to use while working. the little speakers take up very little space.
