Smartdeck Compatibility

Has anyone had problems or success with factory Volkswagon installed Monsson Audio Systems (Cassette/CD Player) and the Griffin Smartdeck?

Can't get mine to work.

There are at least 2 other threads here that are full of disaproval for the Smartdeck. I like it, it sounds great, but none of the tape functions work for me. Most of the other posts do not like it.
