Hi all,

I managed to connect my iPOD up to my work computer/laptop's iTunes sucessfully without losing my iPOD music. I still want my iPOD to only sync to my home desktop - but I wanted it as a source connected to my work's laptop. However, when connected to the work laptop, the iTunes shows the connected iPOD, but when I select it, all the songs are greyed out on it - and will not play - as well as all the playlists. I don't want to copy them over to the laptop - I just want to play them through the laptop USB connection.

Thanks,
Wm

I answered this in your other post. In fact I had already answered it in my reply to your original question.

Thanks snowdog99,

That did the trick, setting it to Manual sync. All the songs are now playable through the iTunes on my work/laptop. I just missed your earlier thread.

However, how can I get it to autosync with my home desktop? It manual syncs with both my computers; home and work. So what happens, when I add a new song or change some ratings or add a new playlist at home, do I have to right-click to "update" the iPOD or set the iPOD to auto in the settings? Or do I set to auto whenever there's a change, then set it back to manual before I disconnect it from the home before I connect it up to the work?

If its only a small change or addition it would prolly be just as easy to manual sync - just drag and drop the new album, playlist or whatever onto the iPod in the source list. Otherwise I think you would have to switch between auto/manual sync settings like you say.
