My ipod is really ####ed up .........alright i took it to best buy and i had a warranty which was in turn negated due to the fact a have 1 or 2 small dents. Repair by Apple or a private company is not worth it I am better off getting a new ipod. I try to plug it in the apple symbol comes up or a folder with excalamtion mark sometimes it actually goes to the dont disconncect symbol. I've tried resetting it, it does nothing. Are there any options anyone can think of. I've been tinkering with the idea of manually opening it and trying to repair it does anyone know where I could find directions to do that.

Thanks, Ryan

Your description of the problem is a bit vague and you haven't given any details of your system. Has it worked in the past? If so what changed?

I don't think a warranty is negated by dints. Get a second opinion.

I think if you open it you might negate the warranty.

I'm thinking that without any other information to go on the only thing I can think of is going back to the beginning, reformatting and loading everything again. Go to the sticky threads at the top of the relevant forum and follow instruction.

btw, you deserve a gold star for drama! You an actor by any chance? If not consider a career change! ;)

I find the squeaky hinge will eventually get the oil, these days stores have lost the concept of customer service and if your not getting a fair shake start stepping over and above heads and don't give up or take no for an answer! In my dealings with various companies in the past iv'e found they genually want to do their best to please and i like to use the old addige that a satisfied customer tells ten people whereas a ####ed-off customer tells one hundred! With the internet that can be truer today than ever, good luck!! Da Duck

what kind of ipod do you have? i've heard of this problem one too many times before. your hard drive is dead. but try this out in this one thread and report if it works or not because i'm trying to think wether or not it works. http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=135673

if it doesn't work you gotta open it up and replace the hard drive.

Is marketing BS.

Yeah, every company say they care about u, what else are they going to say.

While there are tons of imcompetent sales people, to me, if u don't ask me nicely, what I am going to do is to cramp up and go-by-the-book, and good luck with getting any extra out of me. All u have to do is ask nicely (yeah-yeah u are the customer, and I have a degree) and reasonably and your unusual problem maybe interesting enough to get me out of my doldrum.

The devil avocate view.

To the gentleman's prob:

Set it for manual sync, run a Windows' chkdsk with DO NOT auto repair bad cluster. And if test doesn't pass smoothly, u got a HD prob.
