Cant Launch Itunes

I also get this problem:

I have a new computer (Dell Windows XP) and itunes won't start. All I get is the message "Itunes has encountered a problem and must close." Do I want to send a report? No, I want itunes to work. I've downloaded itunessetup.exe and run it any number of times, always with the same result. Help! Before my wife kills me!

I have the same exact response when I try to open Itunes.

It was working fine until i finally downloaded the new version last weekend, now it doesnt open.

ANDDD, my computer now decides to not let me download...anything...nothing. I cant download updater, itunes, quicktime...nothing. gr.
