My iPod won't mount to my PC (WIN 2000). Does anyone know if there are any known IPOD conflict with COMPUSA brand USB 2.0 PCI Card? Otherwise, can someone offer a solution? Thank you.

Do you have any other USB ports on your computer? USB 1.0 and 1.1 work with the ipod as well.

Yeah, I have two USB 1.1 ports, but they are too slow. I use my 20G Ipod as a harddrive, and often carry large files in it to transfer between PCs.

WOW. I have the same exact problem with the same card from COMPUSA. I'm glad someone else has this problem (heh, I mean, now I'm pretty sure the card is the problem and not the iPod)... It's weird because my iPod 3G worked flawlessly with it. I'm using my USB 1.1 port to import songs and videos onto my iPod, but it is very slow. I'll go out and buy a new USB 2.0 card this week.

The tech support from CompUsa gave some suggestions. If you currently have USB 1.X port(s) attached to your motherboard, disable them from the BIOS setting. This will enable your USB PCI Card to work correctly. I haven't tried this yet, but you might want to give this a go before you buy a new card.

Im on the same boat as you guys, except im running XP Pro.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago, plugged it in, connected my ipod, everything went flawless. I then decided to reformat my computer because I hadnt done so in a loong time. Installed iTunes, ect. When I went to plug in my ipod, it kept telling me it dint recognize it, i reset my ipod, tried it on the usb 1.1 and worked fine, removed the card and re-inserted it, reinstalled itunes+ipod updater software, and nothing seems to work. The last thing im gonna try is uninstalling the card, removing it, uninstalling everything ipod, and do everything all over again.

Im pretty frustrated at the moment because it was working fine before, but now it isnt =_= I might also try what tolstoy said, but the problem is that my mouse uses my usb 1.1 port, hmm wonder if my mouse would work with the 2.0 port...well ill try tomorow because its late and im tired, ill post here with my findings.

I disabled the USB 1.X port from BIOS setup, but my IPOD is still not recognized. I think I'll try returning the card - I've read somewhere on this forum that certain USB PCI cards are not compatible with IPODs.

Yup--I just just got one, and it won't recognize my iPod either>??????????? Running XP Home. Guess I'll try another brand--any recommendations?

I bought the Belkin USB 2.0 PCI card, the one that adds 2 external and 1 internal ports. Found it on Amazon for about $20. Easy install, and have had no problems with it -- it's been great, and has worked perfectly with the iPod. I know just about nothing about the innards of computers (this was the first time I ever took off the panel of my PC to get inside it), but this couldn't have been easier. Popped in the card, started up the computer, and it worked without me having to do anything else. Nice fast file transfer now! I'm running regular Windows XP.

I finally found out what was wrong with this card. My windows version dint have SP2 installed on it, as soon as I installed it the card worked fine and my ipod was recognized. Hope this helps some of you.

Ehh, I don't like SP2 lol. I went out and bought another USB card with a NEC chipset instead of an aLi chipset and it works great with my iPod. Good thing, because transfers were so slow when I connected it to USB1.1 while I was waiting for my card.
