Trying to help my buddy set up his new christmas present. We plug it in, install everything, yadda yadda, and everything keeps freezing. Keep in mind, he is using usb 1.1 or whatever it is (not the 2.0 that apple suggests). Finally we get itunes to recognize the ipod, and it says, incompatible, it wants the newest version (6.0). So we download that, install a new version. Same problem, very slow, freezing, etc etc.. Now, when it finally recognizes, we get a new error. saying itunes can not recognize "IPOD" and to to reset the ipod back to factory settings (what gives, this thing is brand new)? Is there an easy fix to this? Are we just running into problems because we aren't using usb 2.0??
thanks in advance!

my apologies if this has already been covered in search...if so, what search terms should I use?

welcome to the lounge :)

try a different usb port - it needs to be powered so that comms can be established.
