i need a recomendation for high quality, ear plug like (blocks noise) ear buds, such as the Etymotic ER6. I am willing to spend $150, give or take a few bucks.

If you could give me any suggestions, that would be great.

Edit: i will be using these on the bus and on planes, so i really dont need them to "stay put" whilst jogging. they just need to block out noise and be high-fidelity.

Check out the Ultimate Ears line - they have great bass.. I hear the ety's lack in bass. www.ultimateears.com :)

iTara, which model do you recommend? their website is a bit daunting, so could you give me a certain model(s) to look in to?

thanks.

You'd want to be looking at the super.fi section as the customs are a bit out of your price range.. I have a set of super.fi 5 pros I couldnt live without, and yingyang, one of the mods here got his pair yesterday and feels similarly :) but they are $250 (well worth it) Ive heard good things about the super.fi 3 studios for their price, and the EBs get rave reviews from the R&B and techno fans! Unbelievable bass.. :)

So ultimately it comes down to if you can go to $250 and like a completely natural (and mindblowing) sound, or if you would rather save $50 and lose the flat natural EQ, but gain some amazing heavy precise bass :)

I'd recommend the Shure E3c. They cost $179, though you will want to add another $10 for the triple flange sleeves, which are by far the best sleeves available for the earbuds.

when i compare the UEs to the Etys.....well that's the problem with comparisons :)

i've read people complain that the Ety ER-6i are too clinical with their sound, and until the UEs i thought they (etys) were fine. after a couple of hours with the UE super.fi 5Pros, i can now agree with all those comments :)

for your budget maybe the super.fi 3 would be a good idea - see if you can try them through one of the retailers on the UE site (maybe guitar center?) or a place like earphone solutions (http://www.earphonesolutions.com/) that allows you to return 'phones (check the returns policy/restocking fee first though)

one final word of warning.....the journey to earphone nirvana can be bloody expensive because there is always a set that is just that much better than yours that just so happens to be a lot more expensive - i'm already dreading the time i order a pair of UE10s :D
