Mac OS 9.2.2 with I pod 30 GB

Need help. I use a Mac G4 with system 9.2.2 and would like to utilize it with my new 30 GB I pod. Is there a software download that I can find to program my computer since the box that came with the I pod stated that OS X is required. Don't want to update to OS X since some of my scanners and printers won't work with it.
