earbuds vs headphones. and Sony MDR-V150

What is better? Regular ol headphones or earbuds? earbuds have to be pressed in pretty tight to hear actual base, and i dont like stuffing things into my ears, plus they never stick, and i'm not about to stick anything in to my ear canals. If i got regular headphones would I hear bass better? I'm thinking about the studio style MDR-V150's

they look like a smaller version of headphones my dad had that he paid like 150 for 15 years ago..

For simple portability, earphones are nice, but I like my Sony MDR-150's for better bass and overall sound quality. My only gripe is that they're kinda big and they start to hurt my head after a while.

I have some black Philips HE-592's and the quality is alright, but not nearly as good as my 150's.

Bottom line: MDR-V150 are some of the worst sounding headphones you can buy.
