Time to Download a Cd to itunes?

Hi, I have just bought a 6gb Mini and I am currently downloading my CD collection to itunes. It seems to take far too long to download each cd (10 mins or more), a friend says that it only takes around 5 mins per cd on her computer, can anyone offer any advice? Thanks

CD importing is one of those areas where your mileage may vary, since it depends on a whole lot of factors, such as your CD-ROM drive speed itself, overhead from other applications that you may be running, and even the CD itself that you're trying to import.

If you go and check out the iTunes Windows (http://forums.ilounge.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=59) and iTunes Mac (http://forums.ilounge.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=58) forums, you'll probably find a lot of discussion on import speeds. You could also just do a keyword search on the forums for "itunes import speed" and this will produce several threads that you can read through that may provide some suggestions for ways to improve your import speed.

Also check out the thread Average Import Speed (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53850&highlight=itunes+import+speed) to get an idea of what other users are getting in various configurations.

Oh one other thing... how do I stop a song rather than pausing it? Thanks

I find unplugging the earbuds from the iPod working for me, though I wouldn't recommend that.
