First time posting and new iPod user - hello!

I was just given a 60 gig iPod Video model by my wife for Christmas, and I was wondering how I can move all of my older iTunes files (which appear to be in MP3 format) from a Mac running OS 9.22 to a newer Mac running OSX. Will I need to find a way to convert all of those older files into MP4 format to be seen by the newer computer?

Thanks in advance for any help. This site looks to be VERY cool for iPod info.

Hey and welcome to iLounge.

You don't need to change the format, its just a matter of moving your music across. by moving the iTunes music folder your will keep all your ratings and playlists, this could be done by connected your new mac up with your older one with a cross over cable, and network them like that. You could put it on a external hard-drive and then import it that way too.
