I recently noticed the included headphones with the 5G iPod have turned magnetic; rubbing them against each other, I can feel the attraction/repulsion in certain areas. This didn't worry me at first as they worked just fine, but after wrapping them around my iPod placed in its sleeve overnight, I awoke to found a big mark where the colors had been faded, similar to if you hold a magnet near your monitor.

After about 2 minutes it faded away, but everyday I see the mark it stays there a bit longer and longer. If I look at my iPod from a certain angle I can see where it was as well.

Is this normal behavior? If not, should I contact Apple? What should I tell them?

Well, all headphones (with diaphram drivers) use magnets to move the drivers and create sound. And LCD displays are not affected by magnets (only CRT's).

Hmm, didn't know that. Thanks.

I guess that mark in the middle must just be natural of the LCD screen then.
