I have a pair of sony slx 71's/ I bought the extended warranty from Radio Shack. I am on my 5th pair due the rubber wire coating is to thin. After a few months of normal usage, the twisting of the wires attached to the buds causes the rubber to wear away exposing the wires inside. I am thinking of buying E3c or E4c's on ebay. Can anyone tell me how the rubber coated wires are? Are the thickly coated? I dont want the same problem with my sonys.
I am very gentle with them and only use them in the gym when I lift.
Thanks

I was playing around with the Shure e3c & e2c. Both have thick cords and by the pictures, I'd say the e4c also has thick cords.

Thanks. I meant that I have the ex71's. Have you ever used the 71's? I read another post that showed the plastic around the ear buds cracking on the e4c's. If I buy them on ebay is Shure good with the warranty or is it voided buying it from ebay?

As for your first question, the e4c's wires are very durable. I do not have them (although i will soon) but a friend does, and they dont feel like they will rub off. For your second question, Shure states on their site that anything bought from them will have the 2 year warranty for shure (pun intended). Check the auction on ebay to see whether the seller is also selling the warranty. Some do, some dont. If you do get the warranty with the 'phones on ebay, i dont think that it is voided, but i could be wrong.
