After "trying" to convince myself that I liked the E3c, I finally returned them a few days before the "no return" per the 30 day warrantee. I made every attempt to like these phones, but day after day was suffering from thin base. The treble and midrange was fine, detailed, and quite nice, however the lack of balance, ultimately, was frustrating. Dealing with muddy bass that I had to "listen for" and train my ear to identify was tiring and again, frustrating. You don't have to insert nearly as deeply as the Shure's, and additionally they play clearly at similar volume about 10% less volume per ipod.

I went out and got the EU super.fi 5 Pro and put them on. WOW. There was the bass, deep, defined, and in my head. The sound was what I espected and sounded like my old Koss Pro's.... except earbud style. I know that my review here is somewhat premature, however the balance of these phones is amazing and certainly meets my needs. Was it worth the extra money...yes, definitely.

I would highly recommend. And they aren't even burnt in.

I will update as time goes on but, for sure (pun intended) they blow away the Shure's right out of the box.

Very Satisfied.

I'm so so glad to finally hear someone come out and say this, I've been saying it all along, the UEs even beat the E4s.. of course they do.. dual drivers are not to be competed with :)

Good work! you wont regret the UEs :D I love mine :)

The soundquality of the UEs cannot be better just due to the fact they are dual drivers! Both the UE and e4 are very good IEMs, playing in the same league. Me too prefer the super.fi, but I can see why many people like the e4 more.

If you buy Super-Fi 5pro. You will be amaz by it,s overall clearity, balance and soundstage with awesome bass. Yes it,s cost litllebit more than E3c but when you will listen it. You will be happy for right choice( read the ilounge review on 5pro). ilounge editor said about E3c in it,s review when it,s compared to 5Pro( E3c sound like radio front of 5Pro).

I'm still lovin them. I noticed that in my warrantee that, like the Shure, it is now Two Years. Can't beat that. Boy, am I a happy camper.

And...

Did I mention how comfortable they are, and that you can actually hear everything at low volume...

Question about that - how are they at blocking outside noise?

They work very well blocking sound at low volume. If turned off, you can however hear outside noise. This is true of virtually all bud style phones. Just turn them on and the world goes away.
