Band: Rollins Band
Source:Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - additional tracks from KaZaa

I've heard some of Henry Rollins before and a good friend of mine is a huge fan, but it wasn't until I started playing THPS3 recently that I got interested in the Rollins Band. The songs I've heard on various soundtracks were cool and I've got a few of them on cd.

After downloading a few tracks from KaZaa and loading them into my iPod, I'm starting really get into them.

I'll probably pickup a Rollins CD soon.

Come in and Burn was his last album with the original Rollins band. Get some Go Again and everything after that were done with a band called Mother Superior. That stuff is more upbeat and energetic.

Awesome workout music.

Anthony Hamilton - I heard about him b/c his was the first album using the new technology that was gonna prevent copying of CDs - failed miserably - but I actually find that I really like a number of songs on the album.

I've been turned on to several bands from the Music Exploration forum here.
Thanks especially to Jackonicko and Nitro.
(The Thrills, The Darkness, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Mars Volta, etc.)
I first heard about Jet in a "Launch" news article, and then saw a reference in the M.E. forum.
Kings of Leon, I heard about first at M.E., then saw a video on Fuse.
The Music, Spoon, The Coral were all on display in the listening thingie at Borders.
Libertines I first heard on NPR of all places.

The only band that I have discovered of any merit recently was Muse. Saw a snippet on TV, downloaded some tracks, loved them, downloaded some more, bought all 3 albums.

Delta Goodrem - Shes a great artist from Australia. She has a great sound and I love her album. I just discovered her last week when I read an article about her on dot music. Check her out!

Tool - My sister had their albums, and I never really listened to them before - wow.

Delta Goodrem is one of my most hated Australian 'artists'. She is a manufactured money machine. She is pure marketing. She takes the 'can play piano' approach to widen her audience, but in film clips and live shows, a camera has never actually shown her fingers on the keys, funny no? Her lyrics are aimed at people who need more from life, which once again widens her audience.

As much as I hate her, her songs bug me in my head. I can't scratch them, they stay there, but I have promised myself to never willingfully listen to her.

She also is an annoying actor in the Aussie show 'neighbours', and has been before she hit the big time, which is another reason to hate her.

:P

I'm sorry you feel this way, I really really like her. She has great songs and her music is very good. I like her lyrics and I don't think they are just for people who need more out of life.

To me it doesn't matter if she can play the piano or not. I've never seen her perform so I didn't even know she played.

I never saw her in "Neighbours" because I don't watch soaps but "Neighbours" has had some great artist come from there (Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance).

Her songs do get stuck in my head really really bad but I don't mind getting great music stuck in my head.

Damien Rice. (from the rock forum at http://www.radiomute.com/)

Nick Drake. (Overheard someone at a party saying to someone else "I think so-and-so is like the Nick Drake of today", couldn't remember who the so-and-so was)

Pete Yorn. (School newspaper had a review of musicforthemorningafter with nothing but good things to say about it, then I heard a song from it on the radio while on vacation)

Thievery Corporation (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?artistId=2726532), and their albums "The Mirror Conspiracy" & "The Richest Man In Babylon". Was at Barnes & Noble recently and was listening to this great chillout compilation set called (appropriately) "The Chillout Lounge", and one of their songs was included in it.

If you're into chillout, downtempo, or lounge music, you should definitely check these guys out, they're also in the iTunes Music Store.

Amazingly, Eva Cassidy - I tend to react against anything that's really heavily promoted, so I gave her Songbird album a miss when it was released. A couple of weeks ago though, I saw an advert which used her version of 'Fields of Gold'. It blew the doors off.

hey, in reply to a few messages delta goodrem is amazing and talented, I love her voice, and yes she can play the piano and do you even understand the word manufactured. Oh and also, someone above mentioned Damien Rice who is also fantastic and has a beautiful voice, check them out if you can. Btw i'm normally into more indie music eg Radiohead, Coldplay ect. and Jazz but Delta Goodrem really is quality, don't go bashing her just because she sings pop music its just arrogant.

Sia, Sam Phillips & Azure Ray Learned about both from KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic... great show with some great live performances.
Sia's Colour The Small One is fantastic, even if I did have to pay import pricing to get it.
Sam Phillips' Fan Dance and A Boot and a Shoe... short, direct songwriting, beautiful in its simplicity.
All three albums by Azure Ray are great, though their self-titled debut is probably my favorite of the three.

Atreyu Saw The Curse @ a local store and figured why not... loved it and picked up Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty and Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, which is my favorite.

Zoe Keating She's the 2nd cellist for Rasputina, and she "pimped" her solo CD, One Cello x 16, while on tour behind Rasputina's Frustration Plantation It's just her and her cello, looped to create some great atmospheres, and her arrangements are fantastic.

The Finn Brothers, from the Adult Alternative Music Choice channel on my digital cable service. I still need to pick up some stuff.

I have always loved Crowded House, and it was great to see that Neil was still making music. The song I heard was just beautiful -- still had a Crowded House vibe, and not just because Neil was singing.

Minuit - The 88 is a great album. I heard these guys when I was drunk at a uni stein and they kicked arse. Their music is breakbeat/electronica. Minuit is a NZ band so might be hard to get hold of overseas, oh and btw don't use p2p it's just plain wrong! Support musicians fools!
