I purchased a new iPod Video 30G last week and each time I tried to sync, it crashes. More exactly, Itunes had stopped synchronized and doing nothing... It happens sometimes after 700 songs, sometimes after 150 songs, etc. I could not find a logical reason... I performed several restore with the latest updater, but each time the same problem occurs.

Then I obtained an iPod Video 60G and it worked perfectly.

So, I thought I had a hardware problem with mine and I purchased a second iPod Video 30GB. Same problem, same freeze during sync ! Again, erratically, it does not stop on a particular song, just after n songs...

Is there a difference between the 30GB and the 60 GB model and how can I solve my problem? I now have two 30GB iPod not working... and I have to return the 60GB I borrowed.

Note : I am using Itunes 6 on Mac OS X and I am using an iPod since 2 years without any problem. I have around 2200 songs. I repaired permissions just in case but without success.

Thanks for your help !

Oliver

60 gb has more ram. uh that's the only thing i can think of that may be the thing. but other than that i'm not sure why. my beagle's name is oliver.

Thank you. I do not think ram is the problem. If this was the case, I presume others should have the same problem. And there is no way to increase the ram. Perhaps I should sync by smaller quantities... I also tried to format the iPod but still the same problem... and only with the two 30GB iPods.

welcome to the lounge :)

are you using the same usb cable and ports for the 30Gb and 60Gb?

Yes, the cable and config are exactly the same. I really surprised that I am the only one in this situation. It not a "logical" bug (assuming that logic can be applied to bugs :) )

I was having similar problems. My pod connected, and was getting power, but it didn't always mount, and it would disconnect midway through. This had a bad effect on iTunes, that would lock up so badly I had to reboot the machine to sort it out.

The problem: my iPod case was pushing down on the dock connector.

Checked the connector. Beside, I have the case with 2 iPods.... The problem is different, it mount perfectly and start the synchro but it stop after an aleatory number of songs or videos...
