not receiving songs from ephpod HELP

I cannot get my ipod to receive songs from ephpod, The ipod works ok , I can get songs into ephod ok,and the battery charge bit comes up when I plug into the computer, but when I try to synch from ephpod to ipod it looks like its working then a box comes up saying "no orphan songs foun"d and there is nothing on the ipod. I am using windows 98se and I have downloaded the 98SE patch.
