Hi guys,
i thought my experience might help some of you.
Got my new 40 Gigger yesterday, fired up Windows XP, hooked up
the iPod to my D-Link Firewire Card, which is perfectly integrated into
my system and works.
(Frustration Level: 0)
No iPod, no new Hardware found, no iPod in MusicMatch, the iPod Manager,
the iPod Updater, no nothing.
(Frustration Level: 5)
Read the forums, found an Article where someone explained howto
reboot the iPod (press the middle to buttons and hold, until it reboots, then
when the apple-logo shows up, press the outter two buttons and hold
until "disk mode" appears - do that while connected to the dock)
OK, did that about 5 times, nothing nothing nothing. (except "ok to
disconnect" appeared on the iPod's display)
(Frustration Level: 8)
Now I thought it would be the right time to go 1 step deeper.
So I restarted my Computer (like about 5 times before) and made
a stop at the bios setup.
Here I recognised the option "Plug and Play OS" which was set to "off".
Set it to "on", reboot the machine, Windows fires up, no iPod.
(Frustration Level: 10*)
Did the above mentioned iPod reboot thing again and - oh wonder oh
wonder - Windows now recognised my iPod and I was able to
format it with iPod Updater 2.1 and fill the lil' biatch with vPod which
is lightning fast
Hope it helps somebody, cheers.
(I don't know anymore if the iPod was in or off the dock when I rebooted it the last time)
