i bought a 30gb 3rd gen ipod. it took me 3 days to get it working, but eventually i did. a month later it died, but apple were very nice and gave me a new one. at first windows xp recognized it, but the ipod manager and all the music programs wouldn't. so i formatted it using windows which by the looks of things put it in disk mode. now everything recognizes it, so i tried restoring it. it gets to the end and says "please wait while the restore process is completed" or something.. and sits there forever. it's still in disk mode and it just says "ok to disconnect", and it stays like that if i take it off the dock.
i have never. ever. had so many problems with any electronic gadget i've bought. also, with the old one, the minute i used some of the eq settings it distorted. i gather that's something i have to live with, but i'm really, really disappointed. i wish i'd never bought it.
