Blue button lights

I wish the lights on the 4 transport buttons on the new iPods were lit bey blue LEDs, not red ones, blue is much more elegant looking.

I think the red lights are fine as they are. Blue lights are getting too common. The red lights make it distinctive to all the blue light products out there.

You're complaining about lights? :rolleyes: Sheesh! When I was a kid we were lucky to have lights on our ipods.

Shoot, we were just happy to have 5GB of space! And to have a mechanical scrollwheel where all we had to worry about was getting sand in it when we went to the beach to surf on our longboards.

That and the remotes needing to be jammed into the headphone plug just to work.

And let's not even talkp about the old headphones that caused us to have protruding tragi! (yes, you'll have to look up that one). :D

Geez, kids these days. Don't know how lucky they've got it with their 30 gigs and working remotes and perfect headphones and light up buttons etc, etc, etc..... ;)

I would have to agree with the first post here. To me, the red lights that illuminate the buttons don't go well with the bluish white tint of the screen backlight. If the buttons were blue, or white, then it would be much better.

Perhaps there is a way to manually replace the LEDs that illuminate the buttons with blue ones? It dosen't seem possible with regular LEDs because the daughterboard that controls the buttons (and thus, the lights) is just too close to the front face for them to fit in there. Do they make low-profile, surface mounted LEDs?

Who you calling kids? Back when i wanted to listen to music, I had to holller at the top of my voice to Mrs Lingerstride who lived 3 floors down and beg her repeatedly to play her vinyl at its maximum. 5GB?? When I was growing up, GB was Great Britain. What the #$%%@ is a Gigabyte?

id like to see laser beams attached to ipods. Then you wouldnt need sealed headphones, just use the laser beam to get rid of that unnessecary noise coming from the people around you. Plus im sure it would emit a good amount of light

I think the red lights are aesthetically pleasing, very cosmopolitain. Blue lights would make the iPod look like everything else-cell phone, watch, PDA etc...

:whatiswrong... you write "that's not even close to look real" if you see, there's nobody who has a blue-lighted iPod, so dont say it doesnt look real, because you cant know how a "real" one looks like. I'm German i don't remember that i've seen that we have written at anytime "in god (so something you don't know how he/it looks like) we trust.... :D So pleeze show me a real, before i can show you mine. not to be rude or anything, but it seems to me as if all of you guys have been living under a rock or something... This is aneasy mod which can be performed at most cellphone shops that do custom LED swaps or by u if u have a good fine point high heat soldering iron and a steady hand. SMC leds are available in every color under the sun these days and are available all over the intarweb...

Have you seen on some stereos, u can do this to the display, change the lights to whatever mood you are in! This would be so cool on the ipod LED'S, is it possible to have an LED which had multiple colour changes ie, an LED which could change from red to blue to green?

Apple should make the color of the back lit buttons ur choice. put an option under settings. you could go from red to blue to green. i personaaly think the buttons should match the screen

there is a place called iPodMods.com, they will replace the LEDs and you can have green, red, blue whatever you get the point.

yea, i myself (with a friend) just redid their site for them. you can also choose what colours you want with a flash movie and it will email the colours to them and they handle it from there.

Actually, that is real.

A while ago, i was speaking to a reseller that works solely for Apple (yes, i even asked for his card). He told me that some iPods (a small amount) have blue lights underneath the buttons, but it depends on where it was manufactured. And that my friends, is the truth.
