Strange Message

I have a black and white 20 gig ipod that i got last christmas. Just recently i have gotten a message on my ipod scenn that looks like a folder next to t triangle with a exclamation point in it. I have no idea what it means or how to fix it. i cant even get the the menu i turn it on and get the "apple" and then straight to what i said above. What do i do.

please help!!
