im 15 years old so i asked my parents for an ipod nano this year. iv read so much about how theres all kinds of problems with it, like displays crackin out of no where and it being flimsy. i was wondering if im kinda screwed here, because my dad already has it. im extremely careful with my stuff and iv never had an lcd crack ever, so am i maybe ok or SOL? :( please any replies would be great. thanks in advance.

There was a screencracking issue in a very minute batch, If the problem happens apple will replace it free-of-charge.

As for it being fragile; read this:

who said it was flimsy?

given the few thousands of complaints versus the millions of satisfied users, i'm willing to bet you're fine.

I have never had a problem playing mp3's on my nano. Or any other file type for that matter.

The iPod can't play OGG audio files, WMA and especially DRM-WMA. Not that I use those formats I just wanted to point out that the iPod can't play all audio formats.

yes, you mite have thought you shoudl have paid- or asked for parents to pay like £40 more to get an ipod video- but hey the nano is cool it also takes less than 20 seconds to convert a windows media song =)

dude, no... ur not screwed at all... the only thing that is bad with the nano is the screen can get REALLY scratched. that is easily overcome. get a microsheild for it (only $20) and the screen wont get scratched. as for the problems, they only happen because of people's carelessness. But, there is the slight chance that you will have a defective Ipod. But that is pretty rare.

wow this little device is built solid. its great and it doesnt scratch as easily as every one says it does. the thing still looks like new, and iv dropped it once or twice now, oops lol. anyway, its awsome i love it. i guess some people just cant take care of theyre stuff and when it breaks they blame it on the manufacturer. not too many people take responsibility for anything anymore.
