No skips, I ran down the driveway full speed with it and it didn't skip once. No ticks between tracks either, just pure clean sound. Everything works, all the songs are in the right order. They play in the right order also. I get 5.50 MB/second transfer rates with EPHPod, and I can play AAC files flawlessly with 1.3 (wonder where I got that? ).
At first I wanted to get a new one, but after hearing all of these problems I might wait a really long time until Apple fixes all these bugs. I mean my iPod is not even a year old, and all of the menus load so fast, everything is almost instant. Headphone jack is in good shape and the scroll wheel is acting like it has never been touched. Oh and how could I forget to mention the 12.5 hours of pure battery life. Yes thats all battery folks!
I just thought you guys would like some positive feedback after the iPod's atmosphere turned totally bad after the new ones came out. Not to criticize them in anyway, but I feel as if this forum needs some positive thoughts.
Cheers!:D
Is the new 3rd. Gen iPod really that bad? I have been thinking about ordering a 30 GB one tommorow.

Well I cannot comment on that because I haven't owned one. By hearing the comments from this forum and a whole bunch of other apple forums, the majority has posted bad/negative feedback. I wouldn't mind having a 20 GB iPod, but the problem is where to find one. Also I am mainly saving up for a new computer I am hopefully going to purchase in the summer.
I have to admit though, I've entered a contest at www.everythingipod.com to win a 30 GB iPod, because a free iPod anyone would take. The chances of winning that would be very slim, but I'll keep this place updated when the time comes.

Do you think Apple will fix most of the problems associated with the 3rd Gen with the FirmWare? I want one, but I am just afraid that it will be a big disapointment if it has all these bugs.

Possibly, if they added a sufficent number of hours of battery life on a firmware upgrade (1.2.1 --> 1.2.6) I am sure they can fix little bugs found in the newer iPod. I know it hard not to resist, but I suggest you do. Quality always comes first over quantity. Wait a couple of weeks before purchasing an iPod and I am sure they'll work it out. However, if you think they'll work it out in a firmware upgrade and you can't resist, get the new iPod and pray that you don't have any problems with it before you open the box. Also hope that they'll include the fixes in a firmware update instead of a whole new generation of iPod's, which I doubt would happen.

Ok, people are making a big deal out of all these "bugs."
I've had my iPod for 3 days and haven't had to reset at all.
