Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Hello All,

I know this must be a common problem/need, but I can't find anywhere on the forum or on the web that specifically addresses this issue. I have a 5G iPod, or less specifically, an iPod with a dock, and I'd like a way to both power it, and pass the audio via RCA to my Alpine aftermarket stereo. Unfortunately, I can't take advantage of the Alpine cable because my stereo was made in 2003, before the proper Ai-Net firmware.

So, does anyone know of any dock to RCA + 12-volt power solution out there? I've seen Belkin's car kit, and SiK's Imp, but these use miniplug 3.5mm headphone style jacks, and I'd like to use RCA without any adapters if possible.

Any body out there?

The Neo adaptor might work....but that costs $200

or the Harmon Kardan Drive and Play...also $200

DO you have aux inputs on your Alpine?

If so, you can use an RCA with a mini plug on the other end...you would then plug the mini plug into the Belkin......then the Belkin plugs into the dock of the iPod

but I see your point...one connection from the stereo to the iPod would be ideal...

But the nice part about the Belkin is you can adjust the gain

That's my setup anyways...sounds great

blitzsafe.com universal ipod interface plays and charges your ipod thru dock connector, charges it for 20 mins after the car is off. all you need is aux on your deck.

wow...cool!!

How would you hook up the 12v power though?

I'm not to proficient with wiring..

neither am i... but heres somethin i drew up in a couple mins that sort of resembles the blitzsafe unit. the wiring is really easy, just read all the instructions and make sure your wires are matched up regardless of color matching (though the colors are usually universal).

I still don't trust myself how to wire that.....plus I really like the volume gain on the Belkin adaptor..

but one connection would be real nice....

Yeah, blitzsafe seems like it might work in my Alpine Changer slot, but it just seems like there would be a cheap (~$50) adapter to run RCA. If I trusted my soldering skills enough to risk destroying an expensive Dock -> USB adapter, I'd try taking it apart and splitting all the power/audio out myself, but i don't. But I'm sure it could be done, and I can't believe that no one is selling a "dumb" cable like that!

The Blitzsafe universal iPod adaptor is only $50..

all you do is hook up the RCA's into the input of your deck and hook up 3 other wires for the Blitzsafe device (switched power, continuous power, and ground)

so you have one connection right to the dock connector of the iPod..

the only problem for me is figuring out the wiring..So I'll keep my Belkin for now.

the only difference is I plug the mini jack that comes from the RCA input on the back of my deck into the Belkin..then from the Belkin to the dock of iPod...one more connection and wires to worry about

the universal adaptor is just a cleaner install

guys the wiring is easy all you do is match them up behind your deck and clamp them down with the included connectors
