I'm sure that this question has been asked over and over, but lazy to search :p Well I made the mistake of ripping "all" my cd's to my i-pod using the AAC encoder. So how hard is it to burn songs from i-tunes if it's in AAC encoder format?? I haven't bought any songs or albums yet, so I will make the change and keep it in MP3 format...now here is the real question: "Since I ripped all my cd's in AAC encoder format, how hard will it be to burn it to cd in MP3 format?" Is this possible? If not, will I be able to play a burned cd from i-tunes that is AAC encoder format?
Thanks in advance!!

Well, you have a few options. First is to convert all the music you ripped in to iTunes into mp3's. to do this you go into your Tunes prefs and look for the section on importing. Once you find this put your settings on mp3 at what ever bit rate makes you happy. Once you have done this you can then go to the library section in iTunes and right-click/control-click the song and choose convert to mp3 in the drop menu.
As far as burning cd's is concerned, you can make AAC files a regular cd or a data cd but you can't make them an mp3 cd without going through the steps above or re-ripping your cd's.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply! I will give it a try, but I will have to do this for each and every song? Is there an easier way so that I can do it all at once or by albums?
Also, another newb question since I am all new to this, when I burn songs in ACC format, will I be able to play the cd in my cd player? Does it need to be in MP3 format?? Thanks again!!

Chris,
Please disregard my last post, I was able to follow your instructions and change all my songs in my library by simply highlighting all the songs and converting them. Thanks for the advice :)
Here is another question (sorry). What format do you recommend that I change my songs to? The only format that I know of from the selection is MP3, the others, AAC, AIFF, Apple lossless and WAV is all greek to me.
Thanks again!!

MP3 and AAC are going to be the smallest files that still give you decent quality. Apple lossless is about half the file size of a .wav and the .wav is a completely uncompressed format so it will take up more space on your iPod. I use some AAC and some MP3 myself. More MP3 as it is easier to burn an mp3 cd to toss in my car stereo if i don't want to take the iPod with me. Listen to each and see what you prefer, that is usually the best way to go.

Now another problem...well, a problem for me since I am a neat freak. I converted all my songs in my library to MP3 format. When I look in my library now, I have two of the same song listed for that album. Meaning I have two of the same songs, but in different formats, one is AAC and the other is MP3. What is an easy way to get rid of the AAC format songs from my library? I have looked a searched and the only way it seems that I can do it is by right clicking it and "clear" it. I hope there is an easier way. Again, help a newbie out!! Thanks!!
btw, what is an ID3 tag?

Go to edit >> Duplicate songs and you will see a list of every song with doubles on them, although I suppose since you converted your entire library, normal library view would look the same as this.
I would sort the songs by "Date added" (if not there, right click on your bar that says, title, artist, album, etc) because any of the new MP3 format will be from the day you converted to mp3, and the AAC stuff will be older from various dates. So just scroll down the list until you get past the date you converted to mp3, and then click the top file, and then scroll to the bottom file. Hold the shift key, and click the bottom file, and all the files should highlight between the two files. Make sure everything highlighted is what you want, then press delete!
