My friend is a PC user, and just went ahead and bought a new 30GB 5G iPod. And he even got it at half price... Lucky #######!

But his luck has turned around. The iPod simply won't cooperate with his PC, while it works fine with my iBook, and every other computer that it has been connected to at various Apple Centers and Service Centers. They ran tests on the iPod, and there is nothing wrong with it...

Here's what's happening. Using the 'about'-feature on the iPod it will tell you that it is pretty much emtpy, while it in iTunes will come up as full or nearly full. Transfering music to it works to some extent, except it doesn't show anywhere on the iPod. He has imported a lot of photos from a camera to it, but they're not registered as photos, but he can import them into his PC from the iPod. He has even imported some video, that initially worked but have now dissapeared again...

We've tried reseting the Ipod several times, both from my mac and his pc. The software are the latest versions. Even formated it from my mac using a disk utility. And did I mention that it works perfect with my mac...

My friend also spent an hour on the phone with apple-support without any luck.

Anyone out there with any good ideas?

Take care!

H.

PS! He's using windowsXP with all the latest updates and stuff...

Format it on the PC. It won't work on his PC unless it is formated for PC, but it will still work on an apple computer.

Hi!

Thanks for the tip. We've already tried this... And when I formateted it on my mac I used the Fat32 file system, and we could write to it from his PC. It just told us that we'd used up 20GB already. But only in iTunes, the iPod itseld tiold us it was empty...

Will try to reformat it on his PC

Take care!

H.

Hi again!

My friend solved it himself. Guess what was wrong... The letter, the f**king letter that windows neeeeeds to have on every drive. Changed if from an F to an I, and PRESTO! It worked! God, what a hopeless system!

Take care!
