Some Songs don't Play

They appear in the song list on the iPod but don't play. They have a hyphen thing in front of them (Edit: i just changed the name to get rid of the hyphen but it still doesn't play). They are MP3's and work perfectly in itunes but not on the ipod :(

Also does the ipod always show up as Do not Connect in the Dock? or is it trying to load something?

woah problem solved with songs not playing, the MP3's were old ones with 80kbps encoding. I guess the Ipod doesn't like them
