View Full Version : iTunes and Ipod Software Updater Don't Recognise iPod
Right, i'm sure you've came across something like this before, but so far I've not found a solution that works. For no apparent reason, iTunes has suddenly stopped recognising my iPod when I connect it to my PC with firewire. I've tried reinstalling iTunes to no avail, and also restoring the iPod software with the updater, but that isn't recognising the iPod either. The iPod is working fine and is also recognised by my PC as a hard disk on My Computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried resetting the iPod?

same darn thing has happened to me too! its been over 3 months and I have no solution! Im back working on this problem tonight...

This happened to me this week too. I reloaded itunes and the updater and still no go. Any ideas out there?
Well, it turns out I've fixed the problem. It was kinda weird actually. When I was trying all the different ways to fix the iPod, I went into device manager to discover that all of my devices seem to have disappeared. So, since I was having no luck in solving my iPod problem, I searched the net for a solution to my device manager issue. One of the suggested solutions had something to do with a piece of spyware called Apropos, and I was directed to an exe which would fix the problem if it was run while my pc was in safe mode. I tried this, and it worked, and I wondered if maybe my iPod would be working again. Lo and behold, I could now sync to iTunes with both USB and Firewire.
I doubt this will be much use to anyone else, but if you have the same problem as me then it doesn't hurt to try.
