Need Help Real bad!!!

I currently have the 3rd Gen ipod. Everytime i go to install the software for the ipod, it gets all the way to the end and it says 1628: failed to complete installation. Man I tryed everything, if anyone knows how to troubleshoot this issue, please give me a holla asap. thanks for your time people.
