My ipod has recently stopped being recognised by itunes, it is seen by windows in my computer. I have not recenlty updated windows or added and securty features. And have been through everyting on the Apple Support site, including updatinf the ipod software and re installing itunes etc etc.

Can anyone out there help me out please?

I feel your pain Brother. I am desperately trying to get my ipod to sink. I have even tried performing a digital exorcism and have still had no luck. After doing everything Apple said to do I assumed the only other reason must have been the work of Evil man, true evil, because only something evil would seperate me from my latest stuff.

As you can see seperation from my itunes is causing severe insanity.

All joking aside, any insight would be awesome!

I was reading some of the other posts having to do with the exact same situation. Boil it down, and people suspect that perhaps the latest windows patch is causing issues.

Resolution Summary that I have read:
-Get a new wire
-hook and unhook the ipod until it connects
-Download some software called Anapod.

These were the 3 solutions that I have read through this forum. Although they are good ideas, we still have not dealt with the main issue, which is Itunes not syncing. So the question is, what is wrong with Itunes that is keeping it from syncing with the ipod?

Someone Smart, please come to our rescue!

This link will take you directly to the apple web site that is dealing with the problem. Although none of the solutions worked for me, hopefully they will work for you.

same boat.

Actually for me, I think it was accepting update for iTunes 6 or iPod Updater 2005-10-12-which killed my connection.

I have tried everything in the tech doc posted above as well as tech doc 61711.

I suspect iTunes 6. Maybe there will be another patch. Meanwhile I hope everyone who has this issue corroborates so we can get a sense of the scale of the issue. Also, if you find a fix or even have any leads, please post.

I'll look into mpala's ideas that it's a windows update and whatever anapod is.

Though I hate to spend more money when I think the onus is on apple to make sure this stuff works before rolling it out.

alright, my bad, apple does not suck.

I got it working. I basically uninstalled everything, and this time I went ahead and cleaned up my system while I was at it. Cleaned out ipod updater, iTunes, all extraneous trial programs, container files, all my cookies, temp files, everything. Reformatted the ipod drive through windows. Ran a virus scan and did a defrag. Did a fresh install of the updater and iTunes and I am golden.

Sorry, apple.

Ok, I tried doing the apple thing and completely cleaning out my system. This still does not work, and to add insult to injury I lost my play list!

Apple must realize that there is some sort of problem, especially with all of the views that this particular help section is receiving. I know that misery loves company, but this is ridiculous. Apple needs to release a patch or something so that we can get back to using the equipment

glad you got it to work.
