removable drive problems

hi. i need help bad! massive problems! i have a 40 gb external hard drive that i have most of my music on! ever since i got it, it has been recognised as E:. However for some unknown reason recently it has just changed to being F:. which means that most of my songs in itunes are no longer recognised becasue they cant be found and itunes isnt searching for them. i was wondering if anyone knew either how to fix the removable drive so it goes back to E: or whether there's an easy way of making all my itunes files look for the files in the new F:? ne help would be greatly appreciated!

When the drive changes on me, it is usually because some other device is plugged in, taking up the E drive.

yeh i cant work out why its going to F: becasue when i plug in another smaller removable rive that goes to E:. i'm just wondering with itunes whats the easiest and/or best way to get my music working fine all again. thanks
