4g itrip ->5g video

I have a 4g iTrip and we all know doesnt work on the 5g video ipod.What does the 4g itrip actually use? That is, does it use the headphone plug and/or the two pin plug?

I was thinking of just making a cable, one end with a male plug goes into the ipod and the other is a female plug which connects to the itrip 4g.

Any ideas?

It uses the headphone plug for the audio signal and the 4pin accessory plug for serial/power communication. If you are so inclined you can access all these things from the dock connector. More info on dock connector pinouts and such can be found here: http://ipodlinux.org/Documentation
